Endeavour Awards 2022

We are very pleased to let you know that Successful Endeavours is a finalist in two categories at the Manufacturer’s Monthly 2022 Endeavour Awards. The categories are:

  • Australian Industrial Product of the Year
  • Best Industrial IoT Application

This isn’t the first time that we have been a finalist so hoping for a win this time. The awards are both for the Plumb Guard MkIV Bluetooth plumbers safety tester that helps prevent plumbers dying of electrocution. The product is sold by HLP Controls. The latest version uses Bluetooth connectivity to an App to provide both site supervisor alerts that a potentially harmful scenario has arisen as well as Internet logging for traceability.

The Plumb Guard MkIV Bluetooth is Designed in Australia and Made in Australia and a good example of the types of project we undertake.

The Printed Circuit Board (PCB) assembly (PCBA) was done by Precision Electronic Technologies in Mitcham who have been a key supplier to us for more than 20 years. If you ever need a PCB put together for you we highly recommend them.

The awards ceremony is on November 3 at Doltone House, Hyde Park, Sydney where the winners will be announced.

Top Programming Languages 2022

IEEE regularly does a survey to review the most used computer programming languages. This year they also looked at the trends and what was being requested in job advertisements.

Of real interest is that Python and all the various C like languages totally dominate the landscape still with web applications still depending heavily on Java, JavaScript and SQL.

The most sought after employee was for SQL. We do a lot of custom IoT so this makes a lot of sense to us as getting good performance from very full databases with time stamped data from many devices is always a challenge.

The top 3 programming languages, Python, C and C++ are the primary ones we use in our day to day product development.

Electronex 2022 in Sydney

Finally, we are getting to a trade show. This is the Electronex 2020 trade show finally going ahead at Rosehill Gardens Function Centre in Sydney. We are exhibiting at stand B29 so if you are able to we would love to catch up in person. It has been a long time since that was a practical thing to do.

This event is a celebration of Australian Electronics Manufacturing and that is exactly what we are about. Successful Endeavours exists to change the Australian economy by solving complex challenges through Electronics Design and Embedded Software Development with the resulting solutions then being Made in Australia. We believe that local jobs and local value creation are important for the future of the Australian economy. And the COVID-19 Pandemic has certainly shown us all how true that is.
